You’ve probably noticed the elegant Zalto wine glasses dotted around our website – for some time, the connoisseur’s glasses of choice. But Académie du Vin Library friend Jancis Robinson has pointed out that Zalto now faces stiff competition – in the shape of a single wine glass, designed to suit any occasion and any wine.
The Wine Glass is the fruit of a collaboration between Jancis and leading London glassware designer Richard Brendon, the idea being to create one glass that delivers the perfect tasting experience whatever the wine – be it Champagne, Port, Sherry or Shiraz. The result is an elegant, tulip-shaped bowl with a hand-blown stem that is beautifully refined yet amazingly robust: just the job for a dinner party that includes a large selection of wines – or the odd clumsy guest!
