Join us for the first in a series of wine lectures. California is one of the world's most interesting and prestigious wine regions. Clare Tooley MW will guide you around the state from south to north, discussing the wines and their grapes, the mercurial and the more conservative makers, the social history, challenges, opportunities and the trends. A great opportunity to hear about what's happening now in one of the most experimental regions of the wine world. Joining Direct Wines Ltd as a buyer in 2000, she moved to France in 2006. She lived near Bordeaux for eight years, managing the group’s winery and travelling extensively in North America, Europe, and Asia. Clare became a Master of Wine student in 2012 and it was during a study trip to the Napa Valley that she called her husband from the side of the Silverado Trail and said she wished they could live in this wine land paradise. Be careful what you wish for as in 2014, Clare moved to California to work as the Director of Wine Development for Lionstone International. She is based just outside Napa and currently sources the US wine range for several national wine clubs, including the Wall Street Journal, Laithwaites, Virgin, NPR, TCM and National Geographic. Clare became a Master of Wine in February 2021. This session will be recorded so if the time is not convenient for you, you can watch it at your own convenience. |
